A Murder in the Aristocratic Residence Section of Ross

November 22nd 1909

It was the morning of November 22nd, 1909 and Miss May Farrell left her home on Lagunitas Road to go to work.

The previous night she had said farewell to her fiancée, Robert C. Black, who was to marry her in June. As she approached the Shady Lane junction she came across an excited crowd. Moving forward to get a better view of what they were looking at, her world collapsed; before her was the dead body of her lover. Making her way home with the assistance of friends, she informed her parents “Bob has been shot”; then retired to her bedroom.
