2008 FIRST FRIDAY FORENOON PROGRAMS & ANNUAL EVENTS

The First Friday Forenoon lectures are held in the Livermore Pavilion at the Marin Art & Garden Center. The programs begin at 11:00 a.m., and last for about one hour. Following each presentation is an informal “meet the speaker” wine and nibbles reception. A donation of $5.00 per person is requested.
March 7 The San Francisco Theological Seminary 100 Years Ago Michael Peterson has been the librarian for the Seminary since 1982. He will present an illustrated lecture focusing on Seminary Life in 1908.
April 4 The Adventure of Brewing an Ancient Sumerian Beer: Anchor Brewing's "Ninkasi" Anchor Brewery owner Fritz Maytag and historian David Burkhart discuss the origins of beer and the story of San Francisco's Anchor Steam.
April 23 SONOMA WINE TOUR A carefree bus trip to the wine country, featuring history, lunch, and of course – wine tasting. For info call Ingrid Gallagher: (415) 454-9208.
May 2 ** Ross, California: the People, the Places, the History The Moya/RHS Authors Committee will host the public release of this new book to commemorate the centennial of the incorporation of the Town of Ross. Books will be available for purchase and signing.

The annual MOYA LIBRARY/RHS FUND RAISER
Bestselling author Julie Flynn Siler will talk about her book THE HOUSE OF MONDAVI: The Rise and Fall of an American Wine Dynasty Books will be available for purchase and signing. Following the presentation, there will be a wine reception and an alfresco catered luncheon around the Memorial Pool.

Sept 19 The ANNUAL MEETING for all Moya Library/RHS members and guests, will be held in the Livermore Pavilion. There will be a short business meeting, followed by a presentation featuring photos celebrating the 2008 Centennial of the incorporation of the Town of Ross. A wine reception and luncheon by the Memorial Pool will follow. Further details available later.
Oct 3 Louise Boyd, Marin County’s Daughter of Fortune Marin History Museum’s Curator Dawn Laurent will share photos and stories that describe the life and adventures of Arctic Explorer Louise Arner Boyd.
Nov 7 Levi Strauss & Co The history of this internationally known clothier and their icon Levi’s Jeans will be explained by Historian and author Lynn Downey. See the oldest pair of jeans in the world! Her book Levi Strauss & Co will be available for purchase and signing.
